Daniel Bumba
Daniel Bumba is the founder and driving force behind Soft Ground Wrestling Uganda. A resident of Mukono District, Daniel's journey to becoming a wrestling promoter is as unique as the promotion he built.
Before SGW, Daniel worked as a quantity surveyor before transitioning to television presenting. His diverse background gave him the skills needed to build a media presence and manage the operational aspects of a wrestling promotion.
On March 16, 2023, Daniel took a leap of faith and founded Soft Ground Wrestling with limited resources but unlimited determination. What started as a dream in a muddy field has grown into a global phenomenon attracting attention from wrestling fans and superstars worldwide.
Daniel's vision extends beyond wrestling - he sees SGW as a vehicle for youth empowerment, community development, and putting Uganda on the international sports entertainment map.
The Journey
From quantity surveyor to wrestling promoter
Early Career
Daniel began his professional career as a quantity surveyor, working in construction and project management. This background gave him valuable skills in budgeting, planning, and execution that would later prove essential for running SGW.
Television Presenting
Transitioning to television presenting helped Daniel develop on-camera charisma, storytelling ability, and media connections. These skills became invaluable when promoting SGW events and sharing the promotion's story with the world.
Founding SGW
Combining his business acumen with media experience, Daniel launched Soft Ground Wrestling on March 16, 2023. Despite having no formal wrestling training, his passion for sports entertainment drove him to create opportunities for Ugandan talent.
Overcoming Adversity
Daniel has faced numerous challenges, including legal issues and financial struggles. His resilience and determination have kept SGW moving forward, earning respect from the global wrestling community.
Building A Movement
Today, Daniel leads an organization that trains over 180 students, has hosted international wrestling stars, and captured the attention of major promotions like WWE, AEW, and TNA.
Future Vision
Daniel continues to dream big - planning expansion of SGW's facilities, developing new talent, and positioning Uganda as a destination for professional wrestling in Africa.
